About Heather Parker

Heather Parker was born and raised in the surrounding areas of Winston-Salem, NC. Having always been drawn to art, it wasn’t until Heather started her nursing career that she began to pursue art on a more professional level. It was her nursing schedule of working three days a week that allowed her the time to dive into creating and practice her skills

Taking her first oil painting class in 2022, Heather is mainly a self-taught artist focusing on impressionistic and colorful nature scapes and florals. In addition to nature scapes, she also dabbles in painting abstract pieces related to Christian concepts or scripture. She often refers to Psalm 98:7-8 when asked why she decided to take the leap in her art. In these verses, Heather felt that if the sea, rivers, and hills were worshipping by just being and doing what they were created to that, she too, would be worshipping God by leaning into her constant desire to create.

In her style of painting, Heather has found joy in painting brightly colored pieces with an impressionistic approach. It is her goal to bring joy into peoples homes and it is her hope that her pieces can serve as conversation starters and resonate with those who have them.

Currently, Heather is working part time as oncology nurse, full time as a twin mom, and spends the rest of her time pursuing her love for art. She has a BA in Biology from NC State University, where she met her husband, and a BSN from Winston-Salem State. Heather enjoys painting landscapes such as coastal NC salt marshes and Blue Ridge mountains, florals of every kind, and beautiful sky scapes. In her spare time, she enjoys making bread, learning to cook new recipes from scratch, listen to nerdy podcasts on diseases and science, spend time with other creatives, try new food places with her husband, and spending time in the mountains with her family.
