About Heather Parker
Heather Parker was born and raised in the surrounding areas of Winston-Salem, NC. Since a young age, she has always been drawn to art.. In the 1st grade, despite what she now sees as a picasso-esque fish collage, Heather’s art had won the Davidson county art competition for the county school program. It was since this that her art teacher, Mrs. James, had started to encourage Heather to pursue her art more.
Heather spent many years throughout middle and high school painting with acrylics on her family’s dining room table— often painting gifts for others. Throughout college Heather paused her interest in painting because she felt like it wasn’t “important enough” or because it wasn’t “income bearing”. It wasn’t until after nursing school in 2023 that Heather felt a nudge from the Lord and decided to take an oil painting class with the intent of taking her interests seriously.
Heather found Greensboro artist, Katie Podracky, whose style with color has inspired her own work. After taking Katie’s oil painting class, she fell in love with oils. Since then, Heather has worked to master her skills with oil and has fallen in love with capturing the landscapes local to North Carolina.
Currently, Heather is working part time as oncology nurse, full time as a twin mom, and spends the rest of her time pursuing her love for art. Heather enjoys painting landscapes such as coastal NC salt marshes and Blue Ridge mountains, florals of every kind, and beautiful sky scapes. In her spare time, she enjoys reading murder mysteries, eating at new food places with her husband, spending time with her littles and taking trips to the mountains to explore and unwind.
