Tasked with the theme of “Prone to Wander”, this 24” x 36” piece represents the glory, vastness, and goodness of who God is. In my reflection of what it means to be “prone to wander” and where we see this in scripture. In the process of this painting, I kept being brought back to the idea of returning to the Father in our wandering versus painting something representative of my wandering.

The bright color of the clouds is meant to draw the viewer in and symbolize God’s glory and His goodness- reasons why the wanderer would turn to God in his wandering. The vastness behind the clouds represents the infinite qualities and attributes of who the Father is. While we know the attributes of the Father and what scripture tells us, there is still an enormity of knowledge, and infiniteness, on who God is that we won’t ever learn here on Earth that is represented in the vastness behind the clouds.

I hope that you, as the viewer, will also find beauty in this piece that helps you connect with the Lord.
